Huawei’s first 5G-enabled smartphone to debut next year
The first of Huawei 5G smartphone is scheduled to make its debut in the Q3 2019. Reports suggest that it could be the Mate 30, as a continuation of the existing lineup. This upcoming 5G smartphone will feature Huawei’s own 5G modem.
Huawei’s global analyst summit in Shenzhen, for the year 2018 has already begun. During this symposium, the Chinese manufacturer has laid out detailed plans for its ventures in 2019, which is from where this information came up.
Since 5G is supposed to gain momentum next year, Huawei’s challenge to the fore should hit the markets in the latter half of 2019. Since this year’s model is named Mate 20, tech analysts expect that the model from the next year could be dubbed Mate 30.
In perfect sync with the earlier Huawei Mate launches, the newest device in the lineup is scheduled to debut sometime in Q3 2019, as per the official information from the manufacturing company.
Huawei’s first 5G modem – the Balong 5G01 chip – was brought out at Mobile World Congress. As per the official announcement, it possesses a bandwidth capacity of 2.3Gbps. While the size of the chipset suggests its usage in mobile hotspots and self-driving automotive, it seems Huawei is about to challenge that assumption. It is currently working on a 5G modem that is meant for phones and will be included in its next 5G feature phone, as suggested before.
Huawei wishes to be an end-to-end services provider for 5G. It plans to deliver network equipment to service providers as well as making 5G-ready hardware available in the market for consumers. Albeit Huawei’s setback in the US in the recent months, it doesn’t seem that its calculated move forward is to be deterred in any way.
According to Huawei’s predictions, there will be a 1.1 billion 5G connections by the year 2025, that’s in the next 7 years. This figure will include 200 million 5G-connected cars. While that is indeed an ambitious target, we are yet to see how Huawei takes the step towards its fulfillment, with the launch of its first 5G-enabled phone.
